(Keyford Dancing School)
On Sunday 16th October 45 Tappers both young and old from the Keyford dancing School took part in a Tapathon, at Fry Club, To raise money for Children in need.Across the country over £9,000 was raised and in addition to their original contribution a further £82 was raised in Keynsham from a cake sale on the day.Unfortunately the world record for tap dancers all performing the same dance at the same time in multiple venues, was not broken on this occasion, a further attempt will be made next year when we hope to get some more tappers involved.
Creativity and emotional wellbeing-a seminar for educators, artists, social care, community and health professionals, parents and policy-makers
Friday 11 November 2011 2-5pm
American Museum in Britain, Claverton Down, Bath
How can we prioritise creativity and emotional wellbeing? How can we create situations for children, young people and adults to develop creativity with responsibility? Why is this important?
For over eleven years now, the artists involved in 5x5x5=creativity have been promoting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people by encouraging their engagement and collaboration in a wide range of creative activities inspired by the young people themselves.
These artists, affiliated art psychotherapists and mental health professionals also work with people of different ages whose emotional wellbeing has been compromised for a variety of reasons and who, through creative partnerships, are helped to connect more positively with themselves and others.
Through a series of dialogues between health professionals, 5x5x5=creativity artists, educators, art psychotherapists and the audience, this seminar is designed to explore emotional wellbeing and creativity, the intrinsic relationship between these concepts and how they are promoted.Contact Julia Butler: julia@5x5x5creativity.org.uk for more information or go to our website-http://www.5x5x5creativity.org.uk/
Call for Artists
Keynsham Creative Enterprise Hub is looking for local artists who would be interested in particpating in the occasional art exhibition at temporary venues within the town centre. The Hub consists of a group of creatives who are trying to promote the Arts within their community and are currently looking at utilising empty shop spaces in order to stage temporary art exhibitions and promote the need for a more permanent venue. If you are interested in exhibiting your work on a local level and feel that it is of exhibition quality, please send 3 images of your artwork and your contact details to: julie@creative-enterprise-hub.org
The Hub will set up a database of interested artists and can then get in touch with you as and when suitable opportunities arise. If you are selected to exhibit your work with us, we would also ask that you be available to man the exhibition space for a few hours during its opening hours on a rotational basis, or have someone you can nominate to man the venue on your behalf. In order to cover the costs of rates in these venues, we would need to charge 20% commission on any sales made during the exhibition. We would also ask that all particpating artists insure their own work whilst it is on display. (The Hub can help advise artists about this aspect.)Due to the temporary nature of exhibition venues, we will sometimes only have a short turnaround between being notified of availability and being able to hang a show. Therefore, it maybe worth considering having a small selection of work ready to hang/display so that we can call on you at short notice.
If you have any queries about the above, please don't hesitate in getting in touch! Many thanks Keynsham Creative Enterprise Hub.
