Keynsham Good Citizen Award
The Keynsham Good Citizen Award was sent up by the Town Council in 2007 and is aimed at recognising those residents of Keynsham who give up their time voluntarily to provide support, services, activities or other works which benefit both the town and residents. To qualify for an award the person must be a Keynsham resident and be sponsored by two Keynsham residents (not related).
The nomination period ends 31st December and then the sponsors are invited to address the Members of the Town Council to say why their nominee should be chosen. The Good Citizens are then chosen by a small panel of Members (Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Political Group Leaders) which are then approved by full Council. The chosen Good Citizens are then presented with a certificate and £100 for the charity/ group of their choice at the Annual Town Meeting, held in April.

The Town Council will not necessarily limit it's choice to one person but at the same time reserves the right not to make a choice.
Here are the previous winners.
2008 - Mrs Charlaine Fleck (work for the Keynsham Fair Trade Group), Mrs Dawn Elmer (work for TGI Friday Kidz Club, Keynsham) and Mr Neil Jacks (work with the Friends of Manor Road Community Woodland).
2009 - Mr David Sage (his involvement with the Avon Wildlife Trust), Mrs Margaret Whitehead (work on the Abbey and Keynsham & Saltford History Society), Mrs Barbara Lowe (work for saving the Augustine Abbey) and Mr Russell Leitch (for photographs he had taken on the changing face of Keynsham since the early 1960's).
2010 - Delia Luke (for her work with the Girlguiding Movement in particular the Keynsham Section).
