Keynsham Winter Festival 2019 logo

A view of Market Walk and the High Street full of rides and people on Winter Festival Night

Our Winter Festival will be on Friday 29th November this year. It is a key date in the town’s calendar and one of Keynsham's most loved events. The theme for 2019 is a 'Greatest Showman' circus, with lots of new and exciting activities planned and circus displays throughout the evening. As usual our local theatre groups, bands and choirs will enchancing the atmosphere, with performances in the Space, Library, Baptist Church, Methodist Church, St John's Church and our mobile stage which will be situated in Charlton Road. The evening will kick off with our procession and Christmas Light Switch on, and this year we will have more stalls than ever before so will be plenty to eat and drink, shop and play.

Children's Lantern Workshops

Two lanterns in the procession at the 2018 Keynsham Winter Festival

On Saturday 23rd November we are running two workshops for children to make lanterns that they can carry in the Christmas Light Switch-on procession.

The sessions will be run by professional artist, Chrissie Weltike, who has lots of experience of craft making with children including her extremely popular workshops at the Holbourne Museum in Bath.

What's included: Two hour workshop, all materials and children can take their Circus Themed Balloon Lantern to keep (lanterns will be stored by the Town Council until the Festival, and children will be allowed to take theirs away at the end of the procession).
Cost: £2.50
Venue: The Key Centre, Charlton Road, Keynsham
When: Saturday 23rd November 10am or 1.30pm

Places limited to 12 children per workshop, first come first serve. Children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 2 children per adult).

Star Trail

Keynsham & Saltford Churches Together have lost some stars around Keynsham High Street! They need you to help find them and unscramble their message!

Download an answer sheet or collect one from the Library, Keynsham Civic Centre or from Victoria Methodist Church (10am - 12 noon Monday - Saturday).

  • Follow the clues to find the stars.
  • Write the letter on the star on your sheet and get your stamp.
  • Once you've found all the stars, see if you can work out what the hidden message is.

Return your completed sheet to the Library or the Civic centre. Closing date is Thursday 28th November.

A winner will be announced at the Winter Festival on the main stage after the Council Chair's Welcome (approximately 6:30pm) so don’t forget to write your name and contact number on the bottom of your answer sheet.
