Keynsham Town Plan updates
The responses from the original questionnaire have been reviewed and a small working party set about the task of formulating the second questionnaire that will go out to a wider audience across Keynsham. That questionnaire will also be available here. The steering group are having regular meetings to progress the plan.
If you would like to receive a copy of the questionnaire then contact the Town Council Offices.
The latest meeting of the steering group took place on 20th October. Phase one is now in full swing and 30 questions have been decided upon and community groups will be met with and asked to complete this questionnaire. The questionnaire will be available on the web site and hard copy in various locations around the town from the beginning of November. Further details to follow.
The consultation morning was a success. The sun was shining and lots of people of all age ranges came to discuss the town plan and what they would like to see happen in Keynsham. These ideas were all noted down and over a dozen people gave their contact details for further information. The next meeting of the steering group will be at the end of the month. Currently the members are wording questions for inclusion in a detailed questionnaire, which will be consulted on during the next few months. So keep your eyes open for public events and if you wish to be contacted email us with your contact details.
In 2004 Keynsham Town Council with the help of committed residents produced a Town Plan with a vision for the way forward and a list of services and aspirations was included. In the intervening five years some of 'wishes' have happened, some have not and some may do so in the future. In that time there have been other developments which could potentially have a large impact of Keynsham; the closure of Cadbury's, the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS), new homes in South West Keynsham and the redevelopment of the centre.
The Town Council believe that the time has come to 'refresh' the Town Plan to take account of these developments. An initial meeting was held in June and from those present a steering group was formed to take the process forward. The steering group is chaired by Dr Peter Roberts, a long term resident and the rest of the group is made up if Councillors (three from the Town Council and one from B&NES), representatives from local community groups and residents.
The third meeting of the steering group took place at the end of August and the next stage is to go out to consultation across the town. The first of this will be on Saturday 12th September 2009 when a stall will be 'manned' at the Farmers Market, which will have a short questionnaire to complete.
