Free Football coaching in Keynsham
The second week of football coaching in Kelston Park has proved to be a great success. 45 local young people ranging from 6-17 years have taken part over the 2 weeks the course has been running. These are split into 2 appropriate age groups. They have been learning new skills, including team work, technical skills, and communication skills as well as having fun while exercising.
The project has been funded by Councillor Brian Simmons through the B&NES councillors Initiative fund and is a joint project between Keynsham Town Council Youth Service, Keynsham Town Juniors Football Club, Somer Housing, Queens Road Methodist Church and St. John’s Church.
“ I believe that this has been a very rewarding experience for myself along with the other coaches and also the players. The players have been enthusiastic and willing to learn, while my coaches and the Youth Workers have been fantastic support, so I’d like to thank them and all the kids that have come along! See you next time!”, Joe Ryan.
“This project is an excellent activity for the local young people to do over the summer. They really have been enthusiastic, even playing in the pouring rain. It has been good to work with Joe Ryan and the other coaches from Keynsham Town Junior F C and to see how football can provide young people with many skills that go beyond football”, Mark Willcox
“Leo (son) has really enjoyed his time at the free football coaching sessions. I think it has been a positive thing for the children in this area. I hope that this will be a regular event in the school holidays. Thank you to the youth workers, Keysham Town Council and the football coaches from Keynsham Town Juniors for all their effort.” Local Resident.
“It is enjoyable to see young people of all ages taking part in a sporting activity. It would be good to see this continue to take place in the future during half terms and summer holidays”, BANES Councillor Brian Simmons.
The football coaching sessions will continue on Tuesday 30th August – Thursday 1st September from 11-2pm and are free! You can turn up on the day but numbers are limited, or you can pick up a registration form Keynsham Town Council Office.
