Park Road Play Area refurbishment plans revealed 

Plans for the refurbishment of Keynsham’s Park Road Play Area have been agreed following a successful Community Consultation, which received an impressive 92 responses.

Often described as a “hidden gem”, the play area is clearly valued by local families, making the strong response to the consultation particularly encouraging. The feedback has helped shape the final design and ensures the refurbishment reflects what local people want.

One of the strongest messages was a desire for more climbing equipment. The new play area will feature two multi-play units for different age groups, both incorporating climbing elements.

The Consultation also showed that the swings were the most popular piece of equipment, so these will remain, along with the much-loved pyramid. Both will receive refurbishment and some much-needed TLC.

The existing slide will be replaced with a new slide that meets current safety standards, incorporated into one of the new multi-play units. The basketball hoop will also be refurbished.

The existing shelters will be replaced with benches, providing somewhere for parents, carers and spectators to sit. Appropriate bins and additional seating will also be provided as part of the overall refurbishment.

Keynsham Town Council has now appointed a Contractor and is looking forward to seeing the plans come to life, creating a refreshed, fun and welcoming space for local children and families.
