The fifteen members of the Town Council are made up of the three main political parties. There are 6 Liberal Democrats, 3 Labour and 6 Conservative. Each of the members represents one of the three wards.

The Town Council has three major Committees; a Policy & Resources Committee; an Amenities Committee and Planning Committee. A number of sub-committees and working parties support the work of the major committees. Town Council Meetings and details of dates/times are displayed on the Documents page at this website, and on the Town Council noticeboards which are situated the shopping ranks on Holmoak Road, Queens Road and Chandag Road.
